!!!Spoiler Warning!!! If you haven’t received the Gods and Monsters — February 2019 Illumicrate box yet turn back now!

Illumicrate

Illumicrate is a monthly subscription box that delivers a Young Adult book—sometimes with exclusive coverssprayed edges and/or signed by the author—directly to your door! Along with the book will be 5-6 bookish items that range from things like candles and bath bombs, to mugs and cushion covers.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, I highly suggest you visit their website and begin your Illumicrate adventure!

I will be writing about the things I receive every month, including my opinions on the items and a full length book review with villain rating for the included book.

Contents:

Character Bookmark Set by @lesyablackbird. This is a set of six gorgeous bookmarks based on Daughter of Smoke and Bone. There are artworks featuring Liraz, Zuzana, Karou, Ziri, Mik and Akiva. The art is stunning and I think the Zuzana one is my favourite.

Strange the Dreamer Umbrella by @hodderscape. Oh my frikkin’ God! An Umbrella in a book box! And it’s raining outside! I’m so happy with this! It looks amazing. It’s blue with the moth print and the quote—Dream up something wild and improbable. When I first tried to put it up I thought it was broken, but after a few tries it works perfectly now. It’s just brilliant!

Keep Me Case by @moledrocraftco. Now my tin was a little broken, the hinge at the back only worked on one side and there wasn’t a way to fix it, so I’ve removed the metal rod entirely and now the lid just comes right off whenever I want to open it. I’m happy enough not to order a replacement though. There’s an pretty red, black and white print on the box featuring roses and dragons, and it’s about the size of an average pencil tin. Perfect for keeping my bookmarks together.

Girls of Paper & Fire Chopsticks by @heyatlascreative. A set of dark reusable chopsticks presented in a plastic slide open box with the quote—I don’t want an easy life, I want a meaningful one. This is a really cool and unique item. Thank goodness I know how to use them, huh?

Beautiful Thing Pouch by @stellabookishart. A nice little pouch that would be perfect for makeup or pens. The design is dark with red and gold musical notes and the quote—The beautiful thing about books was that anyone could open them. I really like this pouch, and will probably use it to keep things organized in my bag.

Nectar of the Gods Lip Scrub by @hellolovelyskincare. I’ve never had a lip scrub before, so this will be fun to try! It’s scented peach and honey, but I can really only smell the honey. Still nice though! I’m looking forward to trying it!

The Binding Sampler. This is a promotional sampler for The Binding. This book was already on my wishlist so I’m pleased to be able to try before I buy, as it were.

The Red Scrolls of Magic Sampler. This is a promotional sampler for The Red Scrolls of Magic. Another book I already had firmly on my wishlist! This book will be released on April 9th, so keep a look out!

Book of the Month:

Orphanage of the Gods

The Orphanage of Gods

Helena Coggan

Details: This book is exclusive to Illumicrate as it has a unique cover with blue replacing all the red, and it’s signed. It also has blue sprayed edges! It’s a gorgeous copy and I’m looking forward to starting it. This hardback book has 401 pages. Included with the book were a personal letter from Helena, and an exclusive silver notebook with a bird design!

Author: Claire

Hello, everyone! My name is Claire and, probably much like yourself, I'm an avid reader. I don't know about you, but I always end up finding the villain to be the most interesting and absorbing character in most books. Who can forget Captain Hook or Tom Riddle? How many of us would love to meet the Wicked Witch of the West? Or invite Hannibal Lecter over for dinner and a nice Chianti? I wanted to name my book blog something suitable and thus Love the Villain was born! I hope you enjoy reading through my book reviews and things, and don't hesitate to get in touch!
